Beck Wood

Published: 26 Jun 20

The Parish Council are concerned about the number of vehicles parking on Linton Road when visiting Beck Wood. We are asking visitors to leave their cars at home and walk to the wood if possible. The police have agreed to visit the area regularly and will be monitoring the situation both on the road and in the woodland. We are currently in negotiations with Leeds City Council Highways and hope a resolution to the situation will be achieved soon. Whilst we understand that visitors would like to swim and barbecue, given the weather, this is not permitted and could be dangerous. The river has strong undercurrents and is not suitable for swimming or paddling. Any sort of fire, particularly in hot weather, could pose a serious risk to the woodland environment and wildlife. If you witness any anti-social behaviour, please report it directly to the police using the 101 number. We want all our visitors to enjoy the area, but in a way that is safe for everyone. The Covid-19 virus is still in circulation and visitors should continue to observe social distancing at all times. Read More...
