Please see details of a petition started up by Cllr Matthew Robinson to restrict HGV access through Collingham:
The recent consultation regarding 20mph zones showed me there are many people in Collingham who feel frustrated at the HGV problem. So, I have decided to do three things:
(1) I am going to see Leeds City Council’s Chief Executive on Monday to discuss Highways issues but express the need for HGV restrictions
(2) I have written to the new Chair of the Outer North East Community Committee and asked for HGV bans and restrictions to be mapped and published and discussions about a new restriction to take place
(3) I have started a petition (link below) so residents can show their strength of feeling on this and sign up.
I just signed the petition "Leeds City Council: HGV restrictions on A659 inc Collingham, Harewood, Arthington and Pool in Wharfedale" and wanted to see if you could help by adding your name.
Our goal is to reach 100 signatures and we need more support. You can read more and sign the petition here:
Cllr Matthew Robinson
The police have advised the Parish Council to alert residents to a residential burglary that took place on 3rd June just before 3pm on Harewood Road. Whilst the occupant was gardening at the front of the house the suspect entered the property at the rear through insecure patio doors and stole property before being disturbed by the occupant and making off over the fields.
Residents are urged to lock all doors front and back even whilst in the garden.
20MPH Zones - statement from the parish council
Leeds City Council have responded to our request to amend the 20mph plans for Collingham and Linton. They are not supportive of our wish to include Harewood Road in front of the school because "the speed of traffic is too high meaning engineered measures would be required to reduce the speed of vehicles. These measures are outside the scope of the programme".
Leeds have confirmed that 20mph zones will only be installed where the average speed is expected to be less than 24mph, which is likely to preclude those areas identified by residents as important for the 20mph zone such as Northgate Lane and Linton Lane. We will continue to try and bring some logical sense to this situation.
